Shatter Our Silence, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and providing education on the factors that lead to young adult suicide, is proud to announce its Annual Fundraising Dinner, taking place on September 19th, 2024. This year’s event will feature an inspiring keynote address from PJ Caposey, Superintendent of Schools for Meridian CUSD 223 and Oregon CUSD 220, and a highly respected leader in the field of education.
PJ Caposey, a former Illinois State Superintendent of the Year and Runner-Up for the National Superintendent of the Year through the American Association of School Administrators, is renowned for his transformational leadership and educational reform efforts. With a career that began as an award-winning teacher in the inner city of Chicago, PJ has consistently led significant change in every administrative role he has undertaken. He became a principal at just 28 years old and transformed a struggling rural school into a nationally recognized institution. As Superintendent of Meridian CUSD 223, PJ has continued his success, earning national accolades for his district.
In addition to PJ Caposey’s keynote address, Shatter Our Silence will debut a short film created in collaboration with Vixen Productions, a key corporate partner. The film highlights the stories of young adults who have overcome personal challenges and chosen to be a beacon of hope within their communities.
The event will be held at Prairie Street Brewing Company, located at 200 Prairie Street, Rockford, Illinois, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are now available on our website, shatteroursilence.org.
